La Gomera 

Vista del Puerto is a very well equipped apartment, perfectly located next to the best and safest beach on La Gomera. However it is a small, further restricted by the renovation saga outlined below

 

Dear Guest,

We hope you enjoy our apartment as much as we do. When we bought the apartment in 2017, you entered the apartment by a long dark corridor. On the left was a dark bedroom, followed by a dark bathroom with no windows, followed by the courtyard, followed by the kitchen living room and finally, the reason we bought the apartment, the balcony with the view.

The plan was to knock two large windows into the courtyard and move the bathroom into the courtyard. We were told by the estate agent / owner that the courtyard was part of the apartment, since it accommodated the Boiler, Fridge Freezer, hot and Cold running water, washing machine and storage, we had no reason to question this.

The extra space allowed us to make a bunk room to able to accommodate a family with 2 children 

We were 70% through the job. Bunk room completed, 2 large windows created into the courtyard. When we were told by the Administrator of the Apartment that we could not put a bathroom in the courtyard. A rapid change of plan meant we had to put the bathroom in the corner of the bedroom, reducing its size dramatically. Effectively the courtyard has now become the dressing room.

To get light and ventilation into the bedroom we lowered the bathroom ceiling and used glass blocks and created two ventilation shafts.

We think we have done all we can to offset the inconvenience of the small bed room.

About the decoration of the apartment.

The wall hangings and cushion covers we bought in Zimbabwe over 30 years ago, they have now returned to Africa !

The prints in the bedroom are by the artist who has a studio in La Playa - Florian Schuster-Bockler. The photographs are by our daughter Sarah. The gecko is by Ilona Thies from El Guro. We also have various La Gomeran pottery bought in El Cercado.
